Eric is the founder and chief economist of PapayaCast, a company he started in 2018 to find a better way to bring economic insights to people in a way that they can understand and use in their own life.
Eric worked at an economic consulting firm for over six years after studying economics at UC Berkeley and UC Davis for his academic training. As a private sector economist, he specialized in macro-economic forecasting on a national, regional, and local level. His work ranged from accurately forecasting U.S. GDP for a major Wall Street hedge fund manager, to forecasting sales tax for California municipalities. He did extensive research in real estate markets, international trade, labor markets, industry analysis, and a range of other economic focuses.
After several years working in private sector consulting, Eric found that he was always at the mercy of his client’s research question. There wasn’t much freedom to pursue the questions that sometimes mattered most to the larger population because there wasn’t anyone paying for those questions to be answered. Without financial resources to justify the research, it just didn’t get done.
Eric decided to start a YouTube channel because it is a format that can be used to deliver the best information on today’s economy to get you prepared for tomorrow’s economy. And the best part about it is that viewers don’t pay a single penny! They may have to tolerate an advertisement here and there, but this enables PapayaCast to do the research and share it with everyone free of charge. YouTube is going to pick up the tab for it through some advertising revenue!
We hope you will enjoy our videos and will consider subscribing to the channel. You can let us know in the comments section of our videos, or here through our contact page, what kind of information would be most beneficial to you.
